I don't know the direction that the earth is turning from my vantage point. As far as I can sense, it isn't, which is how progress feels sometimes. If we were to look at a video of the earth from space we could see that it is, in fact, moving.

On the other hand, sometimes progress comes at you so fast one second you are putting along and the next you are in a completely new world.
